Flexible Light
Control
The center pole is made of two rods that can be used indivi-
dually or combined to increase the options of where the head
will be mounted. This makes it possible to mount the head
in four different positions to achieve anything from a large
size spot to broad floodlight. The holder for the head has also
been equipped with a spill kill reflector. By sliding the head
back and forth it is possible to control and eliminate the
stray light. Since the lamp head is fastened with Profoto’s
unique rubber collar, the light focusing can be finely adjusted
in each position. With a Profoto D4 2400 at six feet (1.8m),
up to f/64 (ISO 100/21°) is possible.
The reflectors provide easy, quick mounting and removal,
and an opening in the back of the unit allows the head cable
to go out through the reflector.
For three decades many top photographers have appreciated
the light quality of Profoto’s flash heads with their unique
focusable zoom reflector system which makes it possible
for the creative photographer to “paint” with light.
Profoto has introduced 5, 7 & 8 foot reflectors with equivalent
diameters of 153, 213 and 250cm – true parabolic reflectors
made in a silver fabric. The 8' Reflector has an illuminated
surface area that is 50% larger than the 7' Reflector and
200% larger than the 5' Reflector.
Each reflector gives a unique, crisp light, but since the light
source is large, the light appears soft, with a distinct brilliance
that brings out structural details in materials.
These giant reflectors accept all Profoto heads, including
our Tungsten heads. The Profoto 5', 7' and 8' reflectors are
collapsible for easy transportation. Thanks to their light-
weight but stable design and easy handling, they are also
suited for location work.
They are delivered with a transportation bag and stand
adapter; optional snap-on diffusers can be used for added
versatility.
